Laser sensor is the most commonly used sensor in chute particle sorter. This is a multi-channel technology, which can measure the reflection, absorption, refraction, scattering and fluorescence, so as to analyze the characteristics of the measured material. There are many lasers on both sides of the particle flow. For quartz and other crystal ores, the laser passes through the crystal and reflects, refracts and scatters inside the crystal. Finally, the crystal will appear weak glow in a wider area than the laser. This technology can now be used to distinguish between crystalline minerals and opaque minerals that only reflect or absorb laser light.
When the laser spot scans the whole particle bed, the detection system will track the laser spot and "see" the changes related to the hard (opaque) or soft (crystalline) mineral surface, and the color of the mineral surface has no effect on the detection results. Because quartz is usually harder and more fragile than matrix rock, cracks are easy to occur along the boundary of the vein. This also leads to the existence of a large amount of quartz on the surface of many mixed minerals, which further improves the selective separation of laser separation.
